Ashish Kulkarni is a Marathi television actor. He is popular for his role as Vignesh from the serial ‘Mala Sasu Havi’.
Early Life & Background
Ashish was born on 6th July 1976 in Thane, Maharashtra in a middle class family. His father was a manager in Dena Bank and his mother worked in the Central Government. He completed his schooling from Dr. Bedekar Vidhya Mandir and his college from Dnyanasadhana College, Thane. Later, he completed his Management course, and then, did a job for almost 5 years. However, he lost his job due to recession.
First Assignment/First Major Break
Ashish started his career as a stage actor, and then, became popular through his serial ‘405 Anandvan’.
Journey in the Industry
Ashish’s journey as an actor began while studying in Dnyanasadhana College, as he used to participate in various Ekankika Spardha. His first play was directed by Eknath Shinde. Later, when he participated in RCFC Ekankika competition, the judge of the competition, Pratima Kulkarni, offered him a role in a Marathi serial. He worked in the serial named ‘405 Anandvan’, where he played the role of Mac for Alpha Marathi (now known as Zee Marathi). This was his first television break.
After ‘405 Anandvan’, Ashish took a 5-year sabbatical from acting. He made his comeback from the serial ‘Manthan’, which was offered to him by Gautam Koli. Later, he acted in various Marathi serials. He played the role of Ashutosh Kulkarni’s brother in ETV Marathi’s serial ‘Lek Ladki Hya Gharchi’. He has also worked in many popular serials like ‘Wadalvat’ and ‘Aduri Ek Kahani’. Meanwhile, he also continued working in Marathi plays.
In the end of 2012, Ashish was offered the role of Vignesh Ratnaparkhi for the Zee Marathi’s serial ‘Mala Sasu Havi’. The role of Vignesh was previously played by Akshay Pendse, but unfortunately he died in a car accident with Anand Abhyankar, who used to play a role of Abba in the same serial. Ashish has worked with many good directors like Gautam Koli, Pratima Kulkarni, Mandar Devasthale and Ajay Mayekar. He is currently seen on Star Pravah’s serial ‘Manasicha Chitra Karto’.
Ashish considers himself lucky to have got a chance to work with his favourite actors like Sudhir Joshi, Laxmikant Berde and Ashok Saraf. He acted in a play named ‘Priya Pappa’ with Sudhir Joshi. He worked with Laxmikant Berde in a play ‘Lele Virudha Lele’, which was directed by Prakash Budhisagar. Then, he played a small role in a play ‘Anadhikrut’, where he worked with Ashok Saraf. The play was directed by Machindra Kambli.
