Avadhoot Gupte is a well known Marathi singer and a music composer. His song ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Maz’ is a super hit. He has hosted his own show ‘Khupte Tithe Gupte’. He has also directed and produced few Marathi films.
Early Life and Background
Avadhoot was born in a small town of Bhor in Maharashtra.
Journey in the Industry
In 2001-02, Avadhoot released his first album ‘Paus’ as a singer and composer. He won Best Composer Award at the 2002 ‘Alpha Gaurav Award’. In 2003, he released his next album ‘Aika Dajiba’, which was a Hindi-pop album. He had sung along with Vaishali Samant in this album and it was the debut album of Vaishali Samant. The title track of the album featured Milind Gunaji & Ishita Arun and it was a major hit among the Marathi & non-marathi masses. The album gave limelight to both Avadhoot & Vaishali. Later, Vaishali & Avadhoot release the sequel of their successful music album ‘Akia Dajiba’ titled ‘Mera Dadla’.
Later, Avadhoot won the reality show ‘TVS Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ singing competition. Since then, he sang various Hindi & Marathi songs. He also lean his voice in various remix albums. In 2003, he released ‘Meri Madhubala’, which was immensely popular. The album contains hit songs like ‘Meri Madhubala’, ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Maza’, ‘Dhipadi Dhipang’ and ‘Bai Bai Manamoracha Kasa Pisara Fulala’. His song ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Maza’ featured Urmila Matondkar and Vivek Oberoi. Avadhoot has also performed a number of live shows.
Soon after becoming popular among masses especially in youth, Avadhoot was roped in as a judge of the Marathi singing reality show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champions’, aired on Zee Marathi. Vaishali Samant was another judge, while Pallavi Joshi has hosted the show.
In 2010, Avadhoot came up with Marathi talk show ‘Khupte Tithe Gupte’ for Zee Marathi. The show invites two Marathi celebrities from various fields like entertainment, politics and sports. Many celebrities & noted personalities like Ashok Saraf, Chhagan Bhujbal, Vikram Gokhale, Reema Lagoo, Medha, Patkar, Ujjwal Nikam, Sachin Khedekar, Bharat Jadhav and many more were the guests of the first season of the show. In 2012, the show made its comeback with season 2. The guests of ‘Khupte Tithe Gupte season 2’ were Narayan Rane & his wife, Rohini Hattangadi, Varsha Usgaonkar, Rakhi Sawant, Aadesh Bandekar, Suchitra Bandekar, Summet Raghavan, Spruha Joshi, Vikram Gaekwad and many more.
Avadhoot was a Music director for the movies like ‘Marathi Golmaal’, ‘Doghat Tisra Aata Sagla Visara’, ‘Zenda’, ‘Aika Dajiba’, ‘Ideachi Kalpana’, ‘Morya’, ‘Pratibimb’, ‘Tukaram’ and ‘Zapatlela 2’. He as a playback singer has sung various songs in the movies like ‘Golmaal’, ‘Adala Badali’, ‘Sanai Choughade’, ‘Be Dune Saade Char’, ‘Zenda’, ‘Kshanbhar Vishranti’, ‘Haapus’, ‘Ideachi Kalpana’, ‘Parambi’, ‘Bokad’, ‘Khel Mandala’, ‘Ajintha’, ‘Tukaram’, ‘4 Idiots’, ‘Dum Asel Tar’, ‘Aamhi Chamkate Taare’, ‘Navrz Maza Bhavra’, ‘Kuni Ghar Deta ka Ghar’ and many more.
After being a successful singer of Marathi film industry, Avadhoot turned his attention in the field of direction. In 2010, he directed a controversy Marathi movie ‘Zenda’. The story was loosely based on the political feud between Raj Thackeray & Uddhav Thackeray. Due to which it created controversy, however, the film was shown to both the Thackeray’s and then it was released publically. Later, Nitesh Rane and his ‘Swabhiman Organisation’ protest against the film as there was a character in the movie which was resemble to his father Narayan Rane. Avadhoot has written the story of this movie.
In 2011, he released his second film ‘Morya’ which was based on the social subject of Ganesh Festival in Mumbai. The movie starring Santosh Juvekar, Chinmay Mandlekar and Spruha Joshi in lead roles. In 2013, he directed the romantic movie ‘Jai Maharashtra Dhaba, Bhatinda’ starring Prarthana Behere in a lead role. Avadhoot has also played a small role in this movie. In 2013, he made one more movie named ‘Ek Tara’, starring Santosh Juvekar.
