Girish Pardesi is a popular Marathi television actor, who has also worked in Hindi serials and Marathi movies.
Early Life & Background
Girish was born on 28th September and was brought up in Pune. He is a Rajput. He completed his education from a convent school till 4th grade and later, from New English School, Pune. He studied commerce from BMCC College, as he wanted to be a C.A (Chartered Accountant). During college, he used to participate in various competitions like mad-ad, elocution, fashion show, etc. On friends’ suggestion, he did a play named ‘Maadi’ and won an award for it. Then, he went to NSD and completed his acting course. After NSD, he came to Mumbai.
First assignment/ First major break
Girish got his first break for the serial ‘Bulbul Bagh’, however, he became popular as Mayuresh Adhikari, his role from the serial ‘Ya Sukhano Ya’.
Journey in the industry
After completing his course from NSD, Girish came down to Mumbai. He gave auditions for a variety of ad-films and serials, as it was difficult to survive in Mumbai. Then, he got his first soap on Doordarshan, which was produced by Raj Babbar named ‘Bulbul Bagh’. Later, he worked in various Hindi serials. After ‘Bulbul Bagh’, director Basu Chatterjee offered him a new show on DD1, in which he worked with Ashok Kumar. He also worked in the serial ‘Kora Kagaz’, in a supporting role opposite Smita Bansal. He then acted in the serial ‘Your Honour’. He had also acted in the popular weekly serial ‘Kya Baat Hai’, which was directed by Sanjay Jadhav. The star cast of the show included Shreyas Talpade, Santosh Juvekar, Poorva Gokhale and Mughada Godbole. It was a youth-based serial and he played a negative role in it.
Later, Girish gave the audition for ‘Ya Sukhano Ya’ and got selected for the role of Mayuresh Adhikari, which was a turning point in his career as he came into limelight and became famous by the name of Mayuresh. He also got the Best Supporting Actor Award at the Zee Marathi Awards for two continuous years. Then, he worked in various serials for 8 years. Later, he participated in Star Pravah’s dance reality show ‘Maharashtracha Nach Baliye’ with his wife. He also acted in shows like ‘Vahini Saheb’ and ‘Saam Daamb Dand Bhed’. Meanwhile, he got busy with films for a year. Then, he did a serial called ‘Vegh’ which was produce by Mrinal Kulkarni. He also acted in the serial ‘Mritunjaykarna’, based on the award-winning novel ‘Mritunjay’, where he did the main lead of Karan. Later, he also played the role of Dushyant Raje Nimbalkar in Star Pravah’s serial ‘Tujhvin Sakhya Re’. He also played the lead role in Saam Marathi’s ‘Kadambari’ opposite Swapnali Jadhav.
Girish’s first super-hit movie was ‘Foreignchi Patlin’, were he played the lead role. He also played the lead role in the movie ‘Marma Bandha’, for which he was nominated in Best Actor category at Zee Gaurav Awards in 2008, and he won the award in 2009. He has hosted and performed at various stage shows and promotional shows. He has done promotional shows for the Saam Marathi, when he was working for the show ‘Kadambari’.
Girish is keen to pursue theatre, as he is a student of NSD. While studying there, he played the role of Henry in the play ‘Shadi’, which was directed by a Polish director. In Mumbai, he did the play ‘Shaymsakhi’, where he portrayed the role of Arjun, the play was about Arjun and Draupadi. He did solo performance for the group Avishkar. Then, he took break from theatre, as he became busy with serials. Then, from 2011-12, he started working in plays. Currently he is doing Sangeet Saubhadra (famous play of Anansabed Kirloskar), were he is playing the role of Arjun. As it is a Musical Drama, he is singing classical songs in the play.
He belongs to a Rajastani family and had done arranged marriage with Prateeksha Pardesi in 2007. He has two sons named Krishiv and Devaj.
