Sai Tamhankar is an Indian actress popularly known for her role in Shreyas Talpade’s home production ‘Sania Chaughade’ and super hit movie ‘Duniyadari’ directed by Sanjay Jadhav.
Sai was born on 25th June 1986 in Sangli, Maharashtra. She completed her education from Chintaman College of Commerce, Sangli. As a student she used to participate in inter college competitions where she also won many prizes. She wanted to do many things when she was teenager but later she took acting as her profession. However she professionally entered this industry by participating in State level Drama Competition. As she came forward from Alpha Mahakarandak Spardha, she was soon offered a serial and later she never looked back. Meanwhile she has also auditioned for MTV programme.
Sai started her career from the street plays and inter college drama competitions. However she became popular from a movie ‘Sania Chaughade’.
Journey in Industry
Sai’s first play was ‘Adhe Adhure’ where she got Best Actress Award. Later she was offered for a Marathi serial ‘Ya Gojirvanya Gharat’. However this serial followed other serials like ‘Agni Shikha’, ‘Sathi Re’and ‘Kasturi’.
Sai’s first film was Shreyas Talphade’s home production ‘Sania Chaoughade’ which was directed by Rajeev Patil. She played a lead role of Saee opposite Subodh Bhave and Shreyas Talpade in this movie. Later she worked in many movies like ‘Picnic’, ‘Haay Kaay…Naay Kaay’, ‘Rita’, ‘Zhakaas’, ‘Time Please’ and many more. She then performed a bold character of Bobby in the movie ‘No Entry Pudhe Dhoka Aahe’, which was the remake of the Bollywood Movie ‘No Entry’. In 2013, she acted in a super hit Marathi movie‘Balak Palak’ which was produced by the Bollywood Actor Riteish Deshmukh. In the same year, she played the role of Shirin in the blockbuster Marathi movie ‘Duniyadari’ along with Urmila Kanitkar, Swapnil Joshi, Ankush Chaudhari and Jitendra Joshi. This movie brought a new dimension in Marathi Cinema. In 2014, she played completely different role in the movie ‘Sau Shashi Deodhar’ and ‘Post Card’ directed by Gajendra Ahire. In the same year, she once again paired opposite Swapnil Joshi in Sanjay Jadhav’s “Pyaar Vali Love Story” which was a super-hit. Sai has received many awards for her various roles as well as for the style diva of the Marathi Film Industry.
Sai has not only acted in Marathi movies but has also acted in Hindi movies. She got an opportunity to work with director Sudhash Ghai in the movie ‘Black & White’. She also played a small role in Amir Khan’s super-hit movie ‘Ghajini’. In 2015, Sai played one of the lead actresses in the movie “Hunterrr”. Sai’s role of a married woman was much more appreciated by critics.
Sai’s upcoming movie is “Tu Hi Re”, which is again directed by Sanjay Jadhav. It will be Sai’s third movie opposite Swapnil Joshi. The movie is all set to go on floors on October 2015.
Sai got married with director Amey Gosavi on 15th December, 2013.
