Dhawal Kulkarni is an Indian cricketer. He is the member of Mumbai Indians in IPL series.
Early Life & Background
Dhawal was born on 10th December, 1988 in Mumbai. He is the son of Sunil Kulkarni.
Journey in the Sports Industry
Dhawal Kulkarni is a right arm medium-pace bowler and right-handed lower order batsman.
He started his cricket career by playing for team Mumbai in Under 17s. In 2005, he came into a spotlight for his performances in Under-17s Mumbai team for Vijay Merchant Trophy. He also played for Mumbai Under-19 team. Later, he started playing for Mumbai Cricket Team in 2007. He also started playing for Ranji Trophy from Mumbai Cricket Team in 2008. Mumbai won the trophy that year, while Dhawal took 43 wickets in the series.
Later, Dhawal was selected in the Mumbai Indians team for the IPL (Indian Premier League). He debuted in IPL in 2008 in a match against Bangalore at Wankhede Stadium. He played outstanding in IPL by claiming 11 wickets. For his consistent performance, he earned spot in Indian cricket team in a Test match. He was selected for the Indian test team in a series against New Zealand in 2009. However, he didn’t received chance to perform in any of the three test matches of the series.
In 2012-13, Dhawal played from the team Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy. Once again his performance was excellent, which resulted team Mumbai winning the Ranji Trophy for the 40th time. He scored 20 in the first innings and took 5/33 against the Services in the Semi-final. In the finals against Saurashtra, he ensures a win by an innings and 125 runs. Soon he was rewarded with a chance in the Indian A cricket squad.
