Abhinay Deo is the most talented and versatile director in bollywood industry. He is the youngest son of the well-known Marathi actor Ramesh Deo.
Early life & Background
Abinay Deo was born in Mumbai in a family where everyone belonged to the film industry. Along with his parents Ramesh Deo and Seema Deo, his elder brother Ajinkya Deo is also a film actor. Abhinay Deo holds a degree in architecture. Although he was destined to be an actor, he decided to be a director. He started as a commercial director and then, got into film direction.
First assignment/ First major break
Abhinay started his career as a commercial director; however, he became popular for the movie ‘Delhi Belly’.
Journey in the Industry
As a commercial director, Abhinay’s first commercial ad was for Hallmark greetings. He worked for several ads like Thumbs up, Nike, Gold Council of India, etc. His debut film as a director was ‘Game’ in 2011, starring Abhishek Bachchan, Jimmy Shergill and Boman Irani. It was produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. The film was a huge financial failure. His next was ‘Delhi Belly‘, starring Imraan Khan, Kunaal Roy Kapur and Vir Das. The film was produced by Aamir Khan Productions. It was released in 2011 and got a good response from the critics as well as the audience. People loved this unique kind of film and its music. Abhinay has got the prestigious Filmfare award for the best debut director for ‘Delhi Belly‘.
Apart from movies and commercials, Abhinay has also directed the most popular show named ‘24’. The story was the adaption of the American show ‘24’. It was the debut serial of Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor and was also produced by him.
