Brief Intro

Amole Gupte is an Indian screenwriteractor, and a director. He is known for his work as creative director and screenwriter for the movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’. He is also known for his outstanding performance as a Bhope Bhau in ‘Kaminey’.

 

Early Life and Background

Amol Gupte was born in Mumbai in year 1962. He completed his education from St. Xavier School, Holly Family School and Hansraj Morarji Public School. Later he took admission in Narsing Monjee College of Commerce and Economics. Before stepping into film industry, Amol was a professional painter.

 

First major break/ Life changing path

Amole Gupte’s first major break was Bollywood’s super-hit movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’.

 

Journey in Bollywood or other filmy industry

Amol Gupte started his career from the Marathi theatre as he used to participate in Ekankika competitions with Uday Tikekar, Vijay Patkar and got directed under Satish Pulekar and Prakash Budhisagar. Later he went in Film Institute as an actor. There he worked in a Diploma Film which got a National Award. He spent 12 years in Film Institute. He never thought of being a director because he was interested in painting.

Amole Gupte started his career as an actor in 1985’s film ‘Holi’ along with Aamir Khan. Then he played a very small role as a cycle race commentator in the movie ‘Jo Jeeta Wahi Shikander’.

In 2007, Amole worked with Aamir Khan’s production house for ‘Taare Zameen Par’, but due to some conflict with Aamir, Amole wasn’t credited for the movie. Then in 2011, he produce and directed ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’ were he roped in his own son Pratho to play a lead role.

Amole’s role in the movie ‘Kaminey’ was appreciated by critics and audience. Then he also in films like ‘Phas Gaye Re Obama’ & ‘Urumi’. Amole also played the role of selfish teacher in his own movie ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’.

His upcoming movie ‘Hawaa Hawai’ is the story of five boys. Saqib Saleem and Neha Joshi is playing the lead in the movie along with Amol’s real life son Partho Gupte. The film is all set to release in February 2014.

 

Social Work

Amol is a chairman of Children Film society, where he works for the rights and welfare of the children.

 

Personal life

Amole Gupte is married to a Bollywood film editor Dipti Bhatia. The couple has a son named Partho who has debuted in the industry with a movie ‘Stanley Ka Dabba’.
