As the season of festival has begun one of the most popular and awaited festival in India, Ganesh Chaturthi has arrived.  This is the first social festival celebrated in India which was started by Lokmanya Tilak in 1893 to bridge the gap between the Brahmins & non-Brahmins for the Indian Protest against the British Rule. However, today this festival has became a trend in a society and is celebrated on a huge platform.

Ganesha is a Hindu God but he is been worshipped by many religious which makes Ganesh Chaturthi one of the biggest festivals in India. As Ganpati is consider as God who grants success, prosperity & protection against adversity; now a days we could see majority of family celebrating this festival by bringing Ganpati Idol at their places.

Ganesh Utsav is also popular in celebrities as lots of renowned celebrities like Lata Mangeshkar, Rishi Kapoor, Salman Khan, Jeetendra, Govinda, Nana Patekar, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan and more celebrates this festival on a large scale. Apart from these Bollywood celebs, many of our Marathi stars such as Shreyas Talpade, Isha Koppikar, Padmini Kolhapure, Manasi Naik, Sonalee Kulkarni, Aadesh Bandekar, Swapnil Joshi, Shashank Ketkar, Manasi Kulkarni and many more celebrates this festival in a full swing. Apart from their family Ganpati, they also visit the famous Ganesh Mandals for payers. Lalbaugcha Raja is the most popular Ganesh Mandal where lots of celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan visits every year for their darshan.

Nowadays, Ganesh Utsav is celebrated on a commercial level. Lakhs of rupees are spent on this festival. Even many politicians & political party arranges their own Ganpati’s for public to create awareness of their party. While some of the Mandals celebrities it for collecting funds for social cause. Apart from this, many Actors & Directors use it as a platform to promote their movies.
