Brief Introduction
Akshar Kothari is an Indian television and theatre actor.


Early Life and Background

Akshar Kothari was born on 24 September 1987 in Solapur district. He has completed his schooling from St. Joseph high school and junior college from Walchand College, Solapur. Since his junior college, he was involved in theatre. He completed his graduation in business administration. Since his college days, he aspired to become an actor. He has also done an internship in theatric program from Rashtriya Natya Vidhyalay before becoming a professional actor.


First assignment/First major break

Akshar’s first assignment was his play ‘Maha Karanth’, however, he became popular with the TV serial ‘Bandh Reshmache’.


Journey in the Industry

Akshar’s first play was for Alpha TV’s Maha Karandak Ekankika competition in Solapur. Later, he joined Natya Aradhana in Solapur, where he performed in many shows. After this, he decided to pursue an acting course and applied to the National School of Drama, Academy of Theatre Arts, Mumbai University, and FTII (Films and Television Institute of India). However, he later opted for Academy of Theatre Arts and came to Mumbai. While completing his two years’ course, he got opportunities to perform in various plays.

Meanwhile, Akshar worked for three major productions. His first play was ‘Ajintha’, which was written by Nadho Mahanor, where he played the role of Major Robert Gill. He received the Sanskriti Kaladarpan Award for his role in ‘Ajintha’. His second play was a Hindi play named ‘Virasat’, which was directed by Vijay Kenkare. This play was the adaptation of the Marathi play ‘Wada Chirebandi’. In his third play ‘Raigadala Jevha Jaag Yete’, he played the role of Shambhaji Raje. The play was written by Vasant Karendkar and directed by Anirudh Khutvar.

After completing his academy course, he played a small role in a play ‘Punashccha Honeymoon’, starring Amruta Subhash and Sandesh Kulkarni. He has also acted in various Hindi plays like ‘End Game’ and ‘Pratibhind’. Later, he assisted the well-known director Chandrakant Kulkarni in a play named ‘Bas Itnasa Khwab’.

While assisting Chandrakant Kulkarni, Akshar received an offer for Star Pravah’s serial ‘Bandh Reshmache’. He played the role of Shekhar Raj Daulatrao in the show. After this show, he played the role of Sambhav Mahajan in another Star Pravah’s serial named ‘Aradhana’ opposite Apurva Nemlekar.
